The other day, I was walking through a park, the path winding beneath a thick canopy of trees. The air was cool, almost like a soft whisper against my skin. Every breath felt fresh and full of life. But as soon as I stepped out onto the nearby road, away from the trees, it hit me... a wave of dry, suffocating heat. The difference was shocking.

That's when it really struck me: trees aren't just beautiful, they are nature’s air conditioners. We don't just need greenery for the view; we need it to breathe, to cool down, to survive. Plant trees. It’s not just about making the earth greener, it’s about making life better, for all of us.

Ahmedabad set a benchmark in heatwave preparedness by introducing South Asia’s first Heat Action Plan (HAP) back in 2013. The plan includes early warning systems, public awareness campaigns promote hydration and sun safety, health worker training targets heatstroke treatment, cooling centres offer relief in public spaces, and measures for vulnerable populations.
